BATH - Melissa Garner, of Hornell, was named the Arc of Steuben’s Associate of the Month for June. Garner works as a Planning Specialist in the Arc of Steuben’s Community Supports division. She was nominated because of the attention and consideration she puts into the plans she creates for people on her caseload. According to Ashley Crawford, who wrote the nomination letter, Garner’s attention to detail, her efforts to get to know the people for whom she’s planning and the extra time she spends to include input from those who know the people on her caseload best, including Direct Support Professionals at the people’s homes, make her exceptional at her job.
“Aside from just doing her specific job very well, she is always there as a helping hand,” Crawford’s nomination letter said. “Nearly every morning she is out helping unload the busses, she will come by the rooms and even if all she is supposed to be doing is observing or her paperwork, if help is needed, she is there to give it.”
Also nominated for June Associate of the Month was Cynthia Kessler, who works in the Arc of Steuben’s Residential program.
