Obituary: John James Parker III, 55, Belfast

John James Parker III, 55, of 7140 Co Rd. 26, Belfast, passed away Friday, July 1, 2016 at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester. NY, following a brief illness. Born March 23, 1961 in Rochester, he was the son of John James and Louise M. Sisca Parker II. On July 12, 2008 in Rushford, he married the former Kim R. Slack, who survives.
John grew up in Belfast and was a graduate of Belfast Central School, class of 1979. In 1981 he went to work at Chessie Railroad system in the Northeastern part of the US, working on the rail gang. At the present time he was signalman for CXS.
He enjoyed motorcycling, carpentry, playing guitar, Music, playing soft ball and golfing. His greatest love was spending time with his family and friends.
He was a member of the Brotherhood of Signalmen, the Belfast Robert W. Howden American Legion Post # 1504, Cuba AMVET Post # 1 and the ABATE Club of MD.
Surviving besides his wife Kim are a son, Kenny J. Parker of Chicago, IL; three brothers, Patrick J. (Theresa) Parker of Parkton, NC, Michael P. Parker of FL, and Thomas M. (Lisa) Parker of Churchville, NY; two sisters, Mary F. (Ralph) Gagliano of Walworth, NY, and Teresa L. (Todd Bugman) Parker of Dalton, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial reception for John at 2 p.m. July 7, 2016 in the Belfast Town Hall. Burial will be at a later date in Holy Cross Cemetery in Belfast with Rev Dennis Mancuso officiating. Memorials may be made to the Wilmot Cancer Center at Noyes Health , 111 Clara Barton St. Dansville, NY 14437. Arrangements are under the Treusdell Funeral Home, Belfast, NY.
