Wayne Lang, a longtime resident of Western New York, passed away on July 26, 2016, in his Wellsville home. Born Oct. 30, 1916, in Laporte City, Iowa, he was the son of Rev. David and Mrs. Eva Lang. He worked as a science teacher and basketball coach before moving to Washington DC in 1941, where he was employed by the Maritime Commission and later as a patent examiner at the U.S. Patent Office. In 1951, he moved to Wellsville to become a patent attorney for the Air Preheater Co. He was a member of the New York Patent Law Association and the Methodist Church, where he held many positions over the years. He was also an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, and above all, his camp in the hills of Potter County, Pa.
Survivors include two children, Karen and David, and a grandson, Jeremy. He was preceded by his wife, Betty (Jedinak); brothers, Carl and Vernon; and sister, Ellen (Farley).
Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend a memorial service to be held at the First United Methodist Church in Wellsville at a later date.
