Portions of region at moderate to severe drought

The U. S. Drought Monitor now has portions of the region in moderate to severe drought. The update was just released. At the RNN rain gauge, from July 1-14, only .34 inches of rain fell compared with 2.77 inches during the same period in 2014.
According to the drought monitor, "7-day average stream flows reached record low values on July 12 in western New York, while farmers near Syracuse, NY, reported their corn leaves curl and were irrigating heavily if they had the capacity."
