Wyoming Co. deputies investigate sky diving accident

The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department was requested to the Warsaw-Perry Airport Sunday for a sky diving incident. On location, deputies were advised Dennis Fridd, 26 of Rochester, had been involved in a training accident. Mr. Fridd exited the plane with his instructor and there was an issue with Mr. Fridd deploying the chute. Mr. Fridd was able to deploy the chute, but the secondary chute also deployed at the same time. Mr. Fridd was close to the ground when the chutes activated and were not able to fully deploy in time. Mr. Fridd struck the ground harder than normal causing serious injuries.  Mr. Fridd was transported by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries.   Perry Ambulance, Warsaw Fire Department and Medic 79 assisted the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department at the scene.
