Wyoming County: Trio arrested during traffic stop

Three people were arrested Monday following a traffic stop on State Route 63 in the Town of Covington.  According to Wyoming County deputies, a pickup truck operated by Brent M. Burnett,29 of Cohocton, was stopped after he was observed allegedly driving 73mph in a 55mph zone.  Inside the vehicle with Burnett were two passengers, Kurt A. Redance, 26, and Courtney V. Forester, 22, both of Bansville.  During the traffic stop Wyoming County Sheriff’s Deputies ran a VIN number on a motorcycle located in the bed of the truck.  The motorcycle, a 2003 Honda, was determined to have been reported stolen from the City of Buffalo in September 2015.  All three subjects were taken into custody at this time.

NYSP Troopers assisted at the scene, and Trooper HOY with K9 Rison responded to assist.  K9 Rison assisted with a vehicle search, and positive indications by K9 Rison led to the alleged discovery of Hydrocodone and Marijuana.  The stolen motorcycle was impounded, and the pickup truck was also towed from the scene.

All three subjects were taken to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office for processing.  They were charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fifth Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana.  Burnett was additionally charged with Speed Over 55mph.  All three subjects were released and scheduled to appear in the Town of Covington Court on August 15, 2016 to answer the charges.
