Allegany County United Way Partners with Local Labor Management Cooperative Committee of IBEW 106

The Local Labor Management Cooperative Committee of IBEW 106 has recently decided to donate 5 cents per hour worked to local United Ways including: Northern & Southern Chautauqua County, Cattaraugus and Allegany counties. Each year, the local United Ways will receive a portion of the money collected. It is estimated that upwards of $10,000 will be collectively shared among the local United Ways.
"This is the first of this type of contribution and it is a great partnership for our community," stated Bryan Gamache, executive director of the Allegany County United Way.
The labor management committee is comprised of three union members and three management members. Each management member is a representative of Western New York National Electrical Contractors Association.
"Sometimes the IBEW and NECA don't always see eye to eye. It is decisions like giving to the United Way in our communities that brings the two sides together. Local 106 and WNYNECA are fortunate to have people on their Boards who see the need in our communities and want to help when they can," said Dave Painter of Ahlstrom Schaeffer Electric.

"The IBEW is pleased to continue their active role within the communities we service and believe the local United Ways to be a great choice for our donation dollars. This is a great demonstration of business and labor working together in support of our community's needs. We would challenge any and all organizations adopt our model and be part of the solution," added Dave Wilkinson of IBEW Local 106.
