On Tuesday, August 9th the Essential Club Free Library will be hosting the SAFE CHILD Program and a Car Seat Check Program from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Canaseraga Village Park on Bennett Street in Canaseraga. Operation Safe Child is a statewide program created by Governor Pataki to raise awareness about child safety. The New York State Department of Criminal Justice has provided equipment so that a SAFE CHILD identification card can be made, containing your child's name, picture, biographical information and a fingerprint image of both index fingers. The card will be given to the parents/guardians, and is made to be carried in a wallet or pocketbook. In the unfortunate event that a child is missing, this card can be given to law enforcement so the search can begin immediately, instead of wasting time gathering information. Your child will need a completed and signed permission form turned in at the library by Monday August 8th to have their cards made. This program is paid for by the Allegany County Sheriff's Office, and there is no cost to you.
The Car Seat Check Program is provided by Ardent Solutions, in partnership with the Sheriff's Office. Ardent is the recipient of a Governor's Traffic Safety Grant to provide both child passenger safety seat education and car seats, free of charge for income-eligible caregivers, if a need exists.
On Thursday, August 11th, the Essential Club Free Library in collaboration with the Canaseraga Village Summer Recreation Program will be presenting Doug Rougeux's "Bubblemania" from 10am-11am at the Canaseraga Fire Hall on Main St. in Canaseraga.
All programs are completely free of charge, and snacks and a drink will be provided as well.
