Hornell school superintendent announces departure

The Hornell Board of Education last night voted to conduct a search for a new school superintendent. Current superintendent Doug Wyant announced abruptly that he’ll be leaving the district when his contract expires next June. He’s held the post for the past five years. Wyant did not elaborate on his pending departure. According to The Evening Tribune, the 51-year-old Wyant graduated from Canisteo Central School and served previously as a principal in Andover and superintendent at Whitesville Central School. He told the newspaper, “we’re going in different directions.”
