Obituary: Jessie V. Stark, 73, Wellsville

Jessie V. Stark (Stanford), 73, of 3271 Graves Road, Wellsville , N.Y., went home to her Lord on Sunday (Aug. 14, 2016) at the Hart Comfort House after a strong-willed battle with a debilitating illness.
She was born Dec. 31, 1942, in Springboro, Pa., to Homer Stanford and Helen (Stevens) Stanford. On Sept. 25, 1961, she married Paul E. Stark, who predeceased her on Nov. 11, 2014.
Jessie was a sweet and talented lady who loved people and had many friends. She led a very full life. Jessie went back to school in midlife to become a hair dresser. She sold Mary Kay makeup along with operating her hair dresser shop in her home until her health no longer permitted her to cut hair. She was also a substitute teacher of cosmetology at BOCES in Olean. Prior to that, she had worked at Elmhurst Dairy, the Olean Tile factory, as a secretary at Herbert Cooper Company in Genesee, Pa., and a bank teller in Wellsville, N.Y.
She was active in the community, collecting donations for the Cancer Society, working at the election booths in Willing, was a certified EMT at the Wellsville Ambulance Corps for over 10 years, ministered to women in jail, and at the church booth at the county fair as well as being a member of the church choir.
Jessie had many hobbies throughout her lifetime, including painting and drawing, music, gardening, canning, bird watching, knitting, sewing, bowling, running, collecting dolls and reading. She was a painter, a woodcarver, a musician who played violin and often sang as she worked. She had a special interest in nutrition and medicine as she was the primary caretaker of her juvenile diabetic daughter for 21 years.
Paul was the love of her life for over 50 years and in their retirement years they spent a lot of time traveling to play music and working together on home improvements including beautifully colored ornate ceilings throughout their home.
Jessie was predeceased by her husband, Paul E Stark; a daughter, Alayna Stark; a brother, Paul Gordon; and three sisters, Irene Launderman, Alice New and Bonnita Flint; and two nephews, Rusty and Larry Flint.
Jessie is survived by two children, a son, Victor (Leslie) Stark of Pendleton, Ind., and a daughter, Tracey (Tom) Coyle of Genesee, Pa.; a brother, Alton (Olive) (Augie)) Stanford of Danville, Pa.; a sister, Norma Jean Fritz of Lakeland, Fla.; a niece, Venus Nickerson of Wellsville, N.Y.; eight grandchildren, Brooke Ray, Joshua Stark, Jacob Stark, Sydney and Sawyer Sorrell, Heather (Gary Bowers) Coyle, Stephanie (Matt) Cornell and Elizabeth Coyle; also by four great-grandchildren, Ethan, Dylan, Cadan, and Courtney Cornell; and many special friends of note, Mary and Frank Grom, Virginia Vossler, Joanne Allen, John and Audrey Wood, Fran and Al Zapar; along with special pets Sparky, her Border Collie Dog, and therapy dog, Beagle-Beagle.
On Monday (Aug. 22, 2016), visitation will be in the Mt. Zion Methodist Church at 2445 Mt. Zion Road, Swanton, Md., from 11 to noon when funeral and committal services will be held. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
