The Potter County Education Council, in partnership with Seneca Highlands IU9 and Seneca Highlands Career & Technical Center (CTC,) recognized 11 students for participating from Port Allegany, Coudersport, Smethport and Bolivar/Richburg in summer IT camp held at the CTC July 25th – July 29th. The goal of this camp is to introduce area youth to a variety of career options related to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM.) A variety of IT career fields were explored through hands-on projects and discussions. Participants were able to take completed projects and other course materials home with them at the conclusion of the camp. This year’s focus was drones with other topics including IT, Scratch and team building exercises. Camp instructors were Donna Giannattasio and Mark Beckwith.
The Education Council would also like to thank the companies that participate in the EITC program for sponsoring our summer camps. They make a commitment to invest in the communities they serve through generous contributions to the Education Council through Pennsylvania’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program. Their contributions allowed us to offer these programs free of charge, which would not have been possible without their strong support.
