Travel note for route 417 in Genesee

The New York State Department of Transportation today announced that asphalt pavement overlay work will begin on State Route 417 on Monday, August 22, 2016, weather permitting.  The project will extend from the Cattaraugus County line in the Town of Genesee to approximately 0.1 miles east of the intersection of State Route 417 with PA Route 44 in the hamlet of Ceres, for a total of approximately 2.3 miles.  The project will also include approximately 125 feet of paving of the short segment on the New York side of the border that turns into PA Route 44 at the Pennsylvania line.  The scope of this project includes the Town of Genesee in Allegany County.
Motorists will encounter flaggers, lane closures and could experience travel delays.  It is imperative that motorists remember to drive carefully through the many highway and bridge construction zones they will encounter this season.
