UPDATED Obituary: Marian Robbins Towner, 86, Scio

SCIO - Marian Robbins Towner, 86, passed away Sunday (Aug. 7, 2016) in Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville.She was born in Genesee, Pa., a daughter of Ora and Herma Rooks Robbins. On Dec. 28, 1947, she married Stephen P. Towner, who survives her. Marian was a graduate of the Scio Central School Class of 1947. She worked at the Scio Central School in various capacities, from running the cafeteria to organizing the library. Upon retirement, Marian and Steve hit the road with their truck and RV and traveled the country from campsite to campsite.She was a member of the Scio Senior Citizens and the Crosstown Alliance Church in Wellsville. For many years, she volunteered to bake biscuits for the Scio Lions Club Strawberry Festival.She was a voracious reader and crossword puzzle solver. She was always working on a sewing or crochet project. She loved butterflies, bowling and playing games. She especially enjoyed playing pinochle with her card club every week. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a foster daughter, Virginia (Gary) Swarthout; a daughter-in-law, Tenna Towner; and three granddaughters, Dori Swarthout, Devon Towner and Amanda Towner.She was predeceased by her parents; a son, Craig Towner; a sister, June Robbins; and three brothers, Alfred, Paul and Gerald Robbins.Friends may call Saturday (Aug. 13, 2016) at the Crosstown Alliance Church, 450 N. Highland Ave., Wellsville, from 2 to 4 p.m., at which time funeral and committal services will be held. The Rev. John Schink, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be at the family's convenience at the Genesee (Pa.) Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the SPCA Serving Allegany County, P.O.
