A ceremony at the Cattaraugus-Allegany BOCES Center in Olean was held September 20, 2016 to recognize the thirteen most recent graduates of BOCES Dental Assisting program. The students completed a one-year, 620-hour course approved by the New York State Education Department. The graduates are now eligible to take the state's Dental Assisting Licensing Examination. The graduates included: Trisha A. Alcantara, Wellsville, NY; Lorinda M. Camburn, Westfield, PA; Katelyn R. Cavagna, Wellsville, NY; Jenna L. Harmon, Bolivar, NY; Tabatha A. Inman, Eldred, PA; Colleen E. Kinney, Farmersville, NY; Susan M. Lentz, Lewis Run, PA; Chelsey M. Peterson, Olean, NY; Taylor N. Reynolds, Allegany, NY; Wendy S. Skidmore, Warsaw, NY; Alycia A. Tracy, Ellicottville, NY; Nikki M. Wortman, Bradford, PA; Sydney M. Zlomek, Belmont, NY.
Instructors Elain Alcorn and Cheryl Gelder guided the students through the curriculum as well as 200-hour internships at various local dental offices. BOCES Coordinator of Health Occupations, Catherine Tomerlin, said five of the 13 graduates gained employment as dental assistants during the program.
