Canaseraga sex offender arrested

Press Release
GENESEO:  Livingston County Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of a Level 1 New York State Registered Sex Offender. Robert Martinez, age 24, a New York State Registered Sex Offender, was arrested on one count of Failure to Register and to Verify on Thursday September 22nd 2016, a Class E felony.
New York State Corrections Law states that  any sex offender shall register no later than ten calendar days after any change of address, internet accounts with internet access providers belonging to such offender, internet identifiers that such offender uses, or his or her status of enrollment, attendance, employment or residence at any institution of higher education.
It is alleged that Martinez had registered an address in the Town of Ossian in July of 2016 and had left that address sometime in early August of 2016.  It is further alleged he moved to the Village of Canaseraga and did not register his new address with local law enforcement.
Martinez was located in Canaseraga by Sheriff’s Investigator Dan Rittenhouse after a short investigation.  Martinez was transported back to Livingston County.  Martinez was turned over to Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and arraignment. The District Attorney’s Office suggested bail at $500 cash or $1,000 bond. Martinez was arraigned later on September 22nd in Geneseo Village Court before Justice Bushnell.  The Judge jailed Martinez on $500 cash or $1,000 bond.
