Major emergency drill planned for Wellsville Airport on Sunday

From: WVFD
Subject: Joint Training Exercise Sunday, Sept. 25th, 2016
To our neighbors,

The Wellsville Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting a Joint Training Water Supply exercise at the Wellsville Municipal  Airport on the afternoon of Sunday, Sept. 25th, 2016.
There is no cause for alarm if you see numerous fire apparatus in the area of operations. The training area will include the airport facility, dry hydrants on Dornow Road & Niles Hill Road, the hydrant on Fassett Lane (behind Fassett Lane Lumber), Field Street, Bolivar Road, Miller Road, West Hill Drive, Tarantine Blvd, Dornow Road, Gordon Road, and Niles Hill Road in the Township.

In addition to WVFD, we expect to have ten (10) area departments participating in the training exercise including Allentown, Alma, Andover, Belmont, Bolivar, Petrolia (Scio Station 2), Richburg, Scio, Whitesville, and Willing.

The training will begin around 12:30 p.m. and last until approximately 5:00 p.m.

The WVFD will allow and arrange for LOCAL residents to enter & exit with their vehicles while the training is being conducted.

We ask that residents do not drive over any hose lines that may be in the road. If you need to enter or exit the area, we will assist you. The fire department also asks that you refrain from parking any vehicles on the roads from 12:00 noon until 5:00 p.m.
The goal & focus of this training exercise is to judge the capabilities & effectiveness of our mutual aid system to provide a water relay operation in the event of a major fire or incident that could occur in our districts.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to stop in our Main Street headquarters and speak to one of the Chiefs.

Respectfully, MD “Barney” Dillie – WVFD Training Coordinator
