On February 8, 1945 in the 1st Baptist Church of Friendship, she married Adin Grandville Hurd, who predeceased her December 16, 1993.
Betty had resided all of her life in the Friendship area and graduated from the Richburg Central School, class of 1945. She was employed at Aerovox in Olean for a short time and then for Acme Electric Corp. in Cuba.
She loved to paint ceramic plates, portraits, barn scenes, landscapes of lakes, hills and out door scenes. She did all kinds of crafts and artwork. Most of all she loved her family and spending time with them.
She was past member of the Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in Hornell and the Red Hats of Friendship.
Surviving are two sons, John Hurd of Friendship and Nolan (Janet) Hurd of Andover; a daughter, Mickie Ann (Bert) Tidlund of Friendship; several grandchildren and several great grandchildren; two sisters, Laura Sampson of Wellsville and Cyrilla Swick of Belmont; and several nieces and nephews.
Betty was predeceased by two sons, Steven Hurd (2015) and Noel Hurd; two brothers, James Ramsell and Robert Ramsell; and a sister, Doris Herrington.
Friends may call at the Treusdell Funeral Home, Friendship on Saturday September 17 from noon to 1:00 p.m. at which time funeral and committal services will be held. The Rev. Bert Tidlund retired Pastor will officiate and burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Friendship. Memorials may be made to the Friendship Rescue Squad.
