Oswayo Valley Memorial Library News

The Annual Pleasant Street Fall Festival will take place on Saturday, Sept. 10th, from 11 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. We will be featuring music all day by DJ Keith Hopkins, crafts and vendors, raffles, beef on weck dinner, performance by the Shinglehouse Community Choir.
Then, at 2 p.m. the program Mountains, Madness & Miracles – Trekking the Appalachian Trail with Lauralee Bliss will take place. Come hear from a hiker who has accomplished the famous Appalachian Trail not once but twice AND in each direction! Hiker Lauralee Bliss “Blissful”, an AT 4,000+ miler and the ridgerunner for Shenandoah National Park, will share stories and pictures from her 4,000 mile journey which she undertook northbound with her teen son and then southbound as a solo hiker. This presentation will inspire you to reach for your hiking dreams, whatever they might be. A book signing for her title Mountains, Madness, Miracles 4000 Miles Along the Appalachian Trail follows. This program is made possible through a grant from the Potter County Commissioners. On Wednesday, Sept. 14th, at 6:00 p.m. join us for a presentation on drug and alcohol addiction by Potter County District Attorney Andy Watson, Shinglehouse Police Chief Brad Buchholz, and Potter County Drug and Alcohol Administrator Colleen Wilber. They will discuss signs of addiction, family support and the C.L.E.A.N. program. Please contact the library for more information or to register at 8146976691.
Sing, Dance, Play! With Rachel Bell : We are once again offering interactive music classes for babies, toddlers and preschoolers with Rachel Bell. We have 2 sessions scheduled so far for this fall on Monday, Sept. 19th, and Friday, Oct. 21st, from 10:3011:10. The classes are limited to 14 children, so please contact the library to register. These classes are made possible through a grant from the Potter County Commissioners.
Oswayo Valley Memorial Library was recently awarded a gold star for our participation in PA Forward. PA Forward is an initiative for libraries to become community centers of information, technology, and learning that will help advance educational and economic opportunities for Pennsylvania citizens.

Audio & eBooks for Download: We have eBooks and audiobooks that are available through our website that you can download onto your eReader and MP3 player. Go to our website and click on “Download Books”. You will need your library card number to log in. If you have any problems please call or stop by the library for assistance.
