Allegany County United Way working on fund raising

Allegany County United Way (ACUW) kicked off its Annual Campaign earlier this month. “This year our goal is to raise $350,000 for our local community services,” said Bryan Gamache, Executive Director of the ACUW. “We are challenging both ourselves and the citizens of Allegany County to help the United Way Board meet this aggressive goal. Last year the campaign provided funding to 26 area programs providing food, shelter, healthcare, victim services, and educational initiatives. Our focus remains in four areas: Critical Needs, Health, Education, and Income. The growing demand of our local agencies to provide these needed programs is what is fueling this year’s lofty campaign goal. United Way’s annual campaign is vital to Allegany County. One hundred percent of every dollar given to United Way stays here with local agencies. The funds raised also support ACUW’s Vita Program which provides tax services to qualified individuals who need assistance completing their taxes. On average over $1,000,000 in refunds is generated per year through our Vita program. “Hundreds of families in our community depend on programs we fund to maintain a reasonable quality of life,” said Bryan Gamache, Executive Director of Allegany County United Way. “We are seeking to fund these important services and assist families in need in Allegany County. We ask those seeking to partner with the United Way to do so through payroll deduction, in person, by mail, or online. No funding is too little and makes a large difference.
