Senator Catharine Young (R,C,I– 57th District) will visit present the Almond Rod & Gun Club with a New York State Senate Proclamation honoring the club’s participation in the York State Department of Environmental Conservation’s (DEC) summer camp. The event will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2016.
This year, the Almond Rod & Gun Club set a new record by sending 35 young people to the DEC’s summer camp in Rushford, New York. Camp Rushford offers campers ages 14 to 17 with hands-on learning lessons ranging from group dynamics to field, forest, and pond explorations, as well as the study of human impact.
Campers also learn science lessons, solve challenges, play games, keep a journal, catch salamanders, net butterflies and discover the interconnectedness of life on earth. Attendees at the camp also choose from a variety of optional activities throughout the week that introduce them to outdoor pursuits and pastimes.
