Dog accused of causing Wyoming County crash

The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office investigated a single vehicle property damage accident on State Route 19 near Fuller Road in the Town of Gainesville. The crash happened Tuesday at 11:04 a.m. Upon arrival deputies said a dump trailer carrying 6 cord of firewood was overturned blocking both lanes along with two utility poles lying in the roadway.  The investigation showed Raymond W. Bliss of Warsaw was operating his Chevy pickup and was towing the dump trailer loaded with firewood.  Also in the vehicle with Bliss were his wife and their dog.  The dog had jumped onto Bliss’ arm which caused him to veer off the west side of the roadway.  The vehicle and trailer struck a utility pole shearing it and another one located to the north causing both poles to fall into the roadway.  The impact with the utility pole caused the loaded trailer to overturn and separate from the truck.  Neither Bliss nor his wife, Donna or their dog were injured in the crash.  Deputy Michael MAJTYKA, NYSP Trooper SYMKOWIAK, Gainesville Fire Department, Silver Springs Fire Department and Wyoming County Highway assisted at the accident scene.  Raymond BLISS was issued a ticket for moving from a lane unsafely and is to answer the charge in Gainesville Town Court next month.
