Genesee-Valley school plans public hearing October 3, 2016

The Genesee Valley Central School District will bring a ‘no additional tax impact’ $13.8M capital project to vote on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Genesee Valley Central School in the pool vestibule located at the back entrance of the building. Voting hours are scheduled from 12 p.m. until 8 p.m. Prior to the vote a community public hearing and meeting is being held on Monday, October 3, 2016 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.
The public hearing will include a presentation of the proposed project details followed by a question and answer session. The current music room space will not be impacted by this project and this project vote is a two-million dollar decrease from the project proposed in March. “This project addresses many needed repairs identified from the NYS mandated Building Condition Survey and responds to calls for improved security, access and instructional spaces” states Dr. Brian Schmitt, Superintendent.  The Genesee Valley Central School District worked hard to make sure this project covers a large scope of working including items that have succumbed to normal wear and tear such as roofs and parking lots and other projects that are program related. Examples of program related projects include technology infrastructure and the repurposing of an existing room to a Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) learning space.
With critical funding available, the vote comes at a time where investments already made to enrich the quality of the school district by the Genesee Valley community are protected without any tax impact. The details of the proposed project will be discussed in greater length during the presentation at the public hearing.

Genesee Valley Central School is located 1 Jaguar Drive, Belmont, NY 14813.
