Of the 80 schools surveyed, Houghton ranked 14th. Houghton was also one of only four schools from the 21-member Western New York Consortium of Higher Education to be selected for inclusion. Great College Deals praised the school for its high student retention levels, challenging academic curriculum, and impressive range of scholarship opportunities.
Great College Deals is a free college research guide that independently publishes rankings in a variety of niche categories. According to the Great College Deals website, the organization seeks to develop “rankings to recognize colleges granting excellent financial aid packages for a solid return on investment.” These rankings take into account an array of factors that contribute to a college’s quality and affordability, including faculty expertise, alumni engagement, and return on tuition investment.
“It is no surprise that we continue to be recognized for our commitment to academic excellence at an affordable price,” remarked Ryan Spear, director of admissions. “This ranking supports many others as we fulfill our mission to enroll students from diverse economic backgrounds, and equip them to go into the world to make a lasting impact.”
