Obituary: Leonard Woolston, 78, Belmont

Leonard Woolston entered into the joy of his Lord on October 22, 2016 after developing an aggressive cancer.  He died at home with his family gathered around him. He was born on April 15,1938 in Cherokee, Iowa to parents Melva and Harold Woolston. After moving from Iowa to San Antonio, Texas in 1957, he met his future bride, Ann Francisico, whom he married on May 4, 1960. After working as a delivery man in San Antonio and later Hampton, Virginia he moved in 1975 with his wife and five children to Belmont, NY. He was employed at Cuba Cheese (later Empire Cheese) from 1976 until his retirement in 2000. From 2002 until he became ill four weeks ago he worked for the Allegany County Office for the Aging delivering meals on wheels, a job which he took great pleasure in performing. Also in his retirement he mowed a few lawns during the summer months to keep busy. He was a charter member of Genesis Bible Church and served God as a deacon there for many years. He was a rabid Buffalo Bills fan and loved his dog Abby.

He is survived by his wife Ann, children Dan (Barb) Woolston of Belmont, Andy (Lisa) Woolston of Pensacola Florida, Calvin (Kristin) Woolston of Suffolk Virginia, Martha (Jeff) Mapes of Belmont, James (Jennifer) Woolston of Livonia NY. Grandchildren Nicole (Allan) Lobo, Bridget (Jacob) Bannerman, Darnay (Taylor) Smith, Logan Woolston, Brandon Woolston, Eric (Emily) Woolston, Bryce Woolston, Brock Mapes, Landon Mapes, Nathan Woolston, Levi Woolston and Gavin Woolston. Great Grandchildren  Harrison Smith and Leo Lobo. Sisters Carolyn (Christopher) Christofferson and Kathy (Larry) Julian.

He was predeceased by his parents Harold and Melva Woolston as well as infant siblings Burdett, Shirley and Sharon.

Keeping Leonard’s wishes, his body was donated to the University of Buffalo medical school. An informal memorial service in honor of Leonard will be held on Monday 10/24/2016 at Genesis Bible Church at 7 p.m. with Pastor Marc Chamberlain presiding.
