Three people were killed when the small plane they were in crashed Sunday night in a remote area of Potter County, near Keating Township. Air Traffic Controllers lost contact with the plane about 7 p.m. Sunday, just after the pilot said the plane was changing direction to avoid rough weather. Potter County Coroner Kevin J. Dusenbury Sr. confirmed the deaths Tuesday, but says he won't be releasing additional information until he contacts the victims' relatives. The wreckage was discovered Monday night.
The plane was flying from Virginia to Canada when it went down. The National Transportation Safety Board is heading the crash investigation.
