Variety Of Intramural Sports Available At JCC

The enhanced intramurals program for Jamestown Community College’s Cattaraugus County Campus students now includes activities in skating, hockey, bowling, ping pong, ladder golf, cornhole, open swim, and a 65-mile club.

“We are pairing with off-campus establishments to bring a wider variety of activities to our student population,” said assistant JCC athletic director Angela Pucciarelli. “We have also created an ‘activity hour’ from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday so that students can visit these establishments and take advantage of everything that is being offered.”

Students have privileges at the city of Olean’s recreation center ice rink, including open skate, after school and weekend skate, and pickup hockey programs.

Besides the bowling, mini golf, corn hole, ladder golf, ping pong, and extreme ping pong leagues offered at Good Times of Olean, the facility also provides College Night for JCC students from 9 p.m. to midnight on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Students are also welcome to participate in wellness and virtual fitness classes as well as open lane swim at the Olean YMCA/JCC Physical Education Center. A martial arts program, conducted by AKT Combatives Academy at the center, provides participants with techniques that can be used for self-protection or sport.

Ms. Pucciarelli has also organized a 65-mile club through which students can accrue their running, walking, skating, and swimming activity.

“We are very excited about JCC’s revamped intramurals program,” said Pucciarelli. “The options offer something for everyone and reflect the ability of JCC and community partners to bring intramural activities to our students.”
