Wellsville handles separate vehicle crashes near airport - Fire Police Officer struck by truck

Wellsville fire, ambulance and state police were called to a two vehicle crash near the Wellsville Airport Sunday afternoon. That crash was near Tarantine Boulevard and Donovan Road. First Responders said one of the vehicles allegedly left the scene but eventually stopped at the intersection of West Hill Drive and Miller Road in Wellsville. Drivers and passengers from the first collision were treated by EMS at their respective scenes. While the investigation was underway, a Wellsville Fire Police Officer was stopping traffic at the intersection of State Route 417/Bolivar Road and Miller Road. Responders told RNN that a truck and trailer allegedly did not yield to the Fire Police Officer and turned onto Miller Road. The firefighter was struck by the trailer of the vehicle. Responders said the firefighter sustained non life-threatening injuries to include lacerations and abrasions after he was knocked to the ground. The firefighter was taken by ambulance to Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville for care. State police are investigating each crash/incident and charges are under review.
