City of Olean Looking for Volunteers to Shovel Walks

November 9—Olean—The City of Olean would like to compile a list of volunteers who can help our elderly and disabled citizens with shoveling and ice removal this winter. If a resident or a service organization would like to be on the list, please call the Mayor Aiello’s office at 376-5615.
"There are many residents in Olean, who have trouble meeting the City’s Code that requires residents to remove snow and ice from their sidewalks following a snow storm," said William J. Aiello, Mayor of the City of Olean. "The City has traditionally kept a list of volunteers who can help our elderly and disabled citizens with this task."
Mayor Aiello added, "In the past, students from our local schools and churches volunteered to meet service requirements; others have added their name to the list to help those who are homebound and living on a fixed income."
"Olean is a great place to live because it is a caring community. This list of shoveling volunteers will help to put those in need in contact with those who are happy to help them. I hope we get many volunteers," Mayor Aiello said.
