Deputies: Almond man caused $1,100 in damage to sheriff's vehicle

Allegany County Sheriff Rick Whitney reports that on November 16th, 2016 deputies from the Sheriff’s Office arrested William E. Staton, age 27 of Almond on the following charge:
· Criminal Mischief in the 3rd Degree, a class E felony.
The arrest stems from an alleged incident in which Staton intentionally caused over $1,100.00 in damages to a sheriff’s office vehicle while being transported from the Town of Almond Court to the Allegany County Jail for incarceration on other charges.  Staton was processed, transported to the Town of Amity Court where he was arraigned and then remanded to the Allegany County Jail on $5,000.00 cash bail or $10,000.00 insurance bond.  Staton is to reappear in the Town of Amity Court on November 23rd, 2016 for additional court action.
