Governor Cuomo Deploys Additional Resources to Site Affected By the Bethlehem Steel Plant Fire

In response to the fire at the Bethlehem Steel Plant in Lackawanna, Governor Andrew M. Cuomo directed the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services’ Office of Emergency Management to provide immediate assistance to the impacted site and has directed them to remain on scene.
The Governor has also directed state agencies to dispatch officials to the area to monitor the air quality and provide real-time data to local emergency management officials and provide support for any actions needed to protect public health.

The state is actively working with local officials, firefighters and first responders to aid affected communities and support emergency response efforts.

The blaze has been contained at this time and there are no reported injuries associated with the fire. The state will continue to actively monitor the situation. The Department of Transportation has provided equipment to assist with traffic control.
