Possibility of Passenger Rail in Southern Tier Discussed

Once an April Fool’s prank, the possibility of passenger rail service in the Southern Tier took it’s first, tentative, steps toward reality Tuesday night.  Urban Corning, a popular website and blog that first posted the joke online, hosted a meeting at the Southeast Steuben Library in Corning.  It featured a presentation by the Southern Tier Coordinator for the Empire State Passengers Association, and a question and answer session.  The next step for supporters for the project is to find funding for a feasibility study in order to find answers for many questions such as: where the stations would be, who would run the service, what kind of trains would run, and where parking would be.
