Allegany County: State police arrest town of Allen Highway Superintendent - Updated

State police report the arrest of Allan W. Hennard, 54, the town of Allen Highway Superintendent. He was charged Thursday with criminal tampering and petit larceny. According to troopers, Hennard is accused of attempting to disable town security camera's in order to steal fuel. In a press statement, police said it is alleged that Hennard had turned off the security cameras and adjoining town court house. Hennard also allegedly used the town of Allen gas supply to refuel his personal vehicle.Town supervisor Julie Steadman said this morning she had not yet reviewed the press release and suggested that she would likely discuss the situation with the town attorney and/or town board. She did confirm that Hennard was the Highway Superintendent. Hennard will appear in court November 22.
