UPDATED Obituary: Phillip A. Taylor, 79, Allentown

ALLENTOWN - Phillip A. Taylor, 79, of 1913 White Hill Road, passed away Saturday (Nov. 26, 2016) at home with his family at his side. He was born July 25, 1937 in Wellsville, the son of the late Isaac and Bessie (Harrington) Taylor. On Feb. 1, 1958, in Alma he married Norma Stephens, who survives. Phil was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1957. He was employed at C. E. Air Preheater Co. in Wellsville for 37 years. He began his career as a welder and retired in 2006 as an inspector. He was a 50-year member of the Allentown Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as captain, trustee and fire chief. He enjoyed hunting, old westerns, history, traveling and puttering. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Shaun (Ezura) Taylor of Allentown; a daughter, Molly Stirk of Wellsville; a grandson, Gregory (Jen) Taylor of Scio; a granddaughter, Ashley Taylor of Allentown; a sister, Betty (Jim) Grossman of Andover; a brother, Isaac (Doris) Taylor of Richburg; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased, in addition to his parents, by a sister, Dorothy McCoy. Friends are invited to call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and noon to 2 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 1, 2016) at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc., Wellsville. The funeral will follow visitation at 2 p.m. in the funeral home, with Roberta Baker presiding. Burial will be in Knights Creek Cemetery, Scio.
